With most design, as with the project I have used in previous posts, the specifications will sometimes refer to the fixing type required but very rarely do they specify the fixing pattern that should be used. In fact on the same roof different installers could use different fixing patterns, but which one is the right one – maybe both are right, but by the same token, both could be wrong. Like each day, no two construction jobs are ever the same. I have been providing roofing advice on a particular project and as I was making recommendations it became apparent that there were a lot of factors to take account of. I don’t intend to name the project or architect but will give generic outlines of what is going on.
The Project
The building is a community project and is approximately 500m2. There is a drape curved roof and a couple of other lean to roof areas. The roof is located by the sea, but closer to an inlet than the ocean itself. Read the rest of this entry »

One of the most important aspects of roofing is ensuring that the correct material is used for the appropriate location. There are a number of choices and it is important to get the right product. Prepainted Steel coil is manufactured by two companies in New Zealand, New Zealand Steel and Pacific Coil Coaters (PCC).

Welcome to the first Metalcraft Roofing blog. Over time we will be covering issues and topics relevant to metal roofing and rainwater systems.
